So is anyone playing in the tournament on the 20th at GZ?
Posted by Bob on Thursday, 02.8.07 @ 22:44pm
A new format you say well well see if old Newt adjusts well to this. (though i have a feeling the generic immortals are probally gonna get the stiff one eye on this)

I've updated the site in preparation for 2nd Edition. Hopefully 2nd Edition will be a success!

There will be a sealed deck tournament at Ground Zero next to Lanskys, 11/1. I'm planning on going. I hope to see some of you there.
Posted by Bill on Tuesday, 10.31.06 @ 11:44am
I hope to see everybody Friday and Saturday. I'll bring my league stuff as well as my tournament stuff. I'm not optimistic about my chances in the tournament. I'm afraid I let my affection for certain characters overide my killer instict.
Posted by Bill on Wednesday, 10.4.06 @ 10:54am
OK, Bill's Connor deck is tough - I think you will need cheese, luck, or a good disarm deck to beat him. Challenge him at your own peril.
Posted by Bob on Wednesday, 09.27.06 @ 12:24pm
I'll try and get a new deck made to try and get a game in after.
Posted by Bob on Tuesday, 09.26.06 @ 13:36pm
If anyone feels like losing a head before or after TFT let me know.
Posted by Bill on Monday, 09.25.06 @ 11:51am
Remember Macleod, you are only safe on holy ground.
Posted by Bill on Friday, 09.22.06 @ 10:25am
I wasn't even planning on playing any highlander last night - I was just going to play Warlord with Travis...
Instead I get sucked in and lose 2 heads.
Posted by Bob on Wednesday, 09.20.06 @ 15:50pm
etera--- 4rth match was Xaiver vs Kindasmalltitty not Newt (my Nefrateri knock off)
Posted by Kelly on Wednesday, 09.20.06 @ 01:43am
3 loses and 1 head taken yep Newts back in town and in usual form... I must admit though my last match with Kanwulf I thought for sure my number was up (thank goodness he passed up his head shots on they way or that woulda been it) And truthfully after the 6 turn beatdown I got from Xaiver the first game i didnt think i stood a chance but lucky for me his Swordmaster card
started biting him in the ass and I had actually noticed.
Ps. 1st match Kanwulf- Newt = Kanwulf wins/newt holy grounds but still a close and brutal game
2nd match Kanwulf- Newt = Kanwulf wins, newt flees after kanwulf burns a rip not even close
3rd match Xaiver -Newt = Xaiver just thrashing newt and running him outa health in 6 or so turns just ugly
4rth match Xaiver-Newt A close game where Newt was on the losing side till Xaiver starting using looking for defences in his endurance I noticed and kept swinging till I drew up a headshot to use and got lucky probally woulda fled this one as well had i not noticed.

I agree with everyone else here saying its good to see so many swordswingers out there. I can tell all ready that the (2 I met)will make it interesting as they know what the hell there doing it will be interesting to see how play styles develope this time around with so many people tourny play gonna be a special sort of challenge.
-Cassandra to Raymond- "anytime I just hope you have the staying power to make it interesting"
-Newt- "huh what more immortals" sigh "I better get some better sneakers"

First I just wanted to say thanks to Bill, Bob, and everyone for inviting me to join the league.
Second Nefertiri cant wait to return and give everyone the same beating she took, and give it back 10 fold, and u may want to look out Annie Devlin might make an apperence so lokk out u might go around a corner and bam u lose ur head.
Posted by Chris on Monday, 09.18.06 @ 23:15pm
First I want to say thanks to Bill and everyone for inviting us into the league and resetting the scores. Chris, Jeremy and myself appreaciate it.
Second, now knowing what the league is like, Amanda will be back with a vengence. :) Also, be on the look out for Richie. He could be lurking around somewhere waiting to take your head.
Cya on tuesday.

I'm glad we got some new blood too.
Xavier needs to rest and refine his strategy for a while.
Expect to see Luther again soon.
Posted by Bob on Friday, 09.15.06 @ 20:03pm
After spending countless hours in the gym on the realatively young art of "upright fighting" Kalas managed to put a few notches in his belt. Holy ground is no longer the refuge it once was.
Be on the look out for Xavier and his hidden explosives. Cassandra is still nasty. I think Raymond may have to call her out.
I'm glad to have a few more people in the league. We should have a "real" tournament soon

I have no problem with Kelly using his one choice for a Cassandra mk2. Hell, I used mine for my third Ritchie.
I don't care if Nexus is banned.
Posted by Bob on Tuesday, 05.23.06 @ 13:54pm
I think I mentioned Nexus as being an outlawed card. If I forgot now you know. Nexus is not allowed in the league. If you guys want to vote we can but I think allowing it is a bad idea.

The Gatherings were not good for me - two heads lost. I did rack up quite a few points though...
Don't know what I'm going to build next. Luther will probably be active for a while.
Posted by Bob on Wednesday, 05.17.06 @ 15:01pm
You can imagine my surprise at being attacked by a dead man, it would seem the rumors of Mr. Fitzcairns death were indeed greatly exaggerated. Though fate was kind to me and Mr. Wilde will no longer spread his slanderous lies, this at least I have seen to this myself. I feel quite sheepish at having been taken in by this ruse, but the story seemed much more believable than that little mousy fellow Newt killing Conner. Still I have learned a valuable lesson to not count anyone out unless they are taken by your own hand.
-Sir Harold Sebastion-
(this is my other generic immortals name. Bob also I am ready to play Cassandra as well made three decks so i can switch up and not be so predictable if you can add em to list) And i dont work today (wed) or tomarrow and would like to get some games in if anyone interested call

Jeff, good point. Will do.

I wasn't thinking about us. I was thinking about the guys who are not in the league. Hand them an erratta sheet. And explain the 2 master and 3 reserved cards in a generic deck.
Posted by Jeff on Saturday, 03.11.06 @ 08:00am
I already gave you guys the official errata. If you have any particular questions I'll gladly address them. Kelly, no it isn't a mistake. They tried to make more cards available to generics in later expansions.
Posted by Bill on Friday, 03.10.06 @ 09:10am
Hmm Ya i was a bit disapointed with my packs as well not that they were not good cards its just the rare cards were both sig cards only cerdwin could use. I did get a trip and another headshot card that might be handy. And was curious about the Alaine card it seems pretty good for a non reserved card is it a misprint and supposed to be
reserved??
Posted by Kelly on Friday, 03.10.06 @ 01:29am
I only pulled a recon and a head shot from my two boosters. Yes, I was dissappointed also.
Bill, I don't have a problem with you running. I do think you should make a list of the erratta like the one on this website for everyone.

Do you guys have a problem with me playing and running the Jim-Con tournament?

Newton Pierce is a man to be feared - he has taken 4 heads including Connor MacLeod's.
Posted by Bob on Wednesday, 03.8.06 @ 09:59am
Competition was fierce. I expected a another head to be taken but 2 out of 5 isn't bad. I think I'm convinced that 60 cards is better than 120. Not exerting past your best cards is always good. Remember there will be a tournament March 18th, 6:00 at Jim-Con.

Posted by Bill on Monday, 03.6.06 @ 16:56pm
Yeah, but Im short on dodges so it will be mostly blocks. I never attack more than once in a round so I'll have plenty of attacks.
Posted by Bill on Saturday, 03.4.06 @ 22:02pm
150 cards? Do you have enough attacks and defenses for that big of a deck?
Posted by Bob on Saturday, 03.4.06 @ 20:30pm
I think I'm going to go with a 150 card deck for the tournament. I figure if I keep my head and don't burn I can't do any worse.

To Conner:
You don't want no drama!

Posted by Jeff on Friday, 03.3.06 @ 18:27pm
Connor went through the familiar moves of the kata, swinging his sword at imaginary opponents and concentrating on his style. It had been years since he had trained in a serious way. Unlike his cousin Duncan, Connor had been willing to rely on skills learned long ago and had let himself get rusty. Now, with the pace of the gathering picking up, he need to hone is edge if he was going to get the prize.
He was troubled by his performance in the duels he had fought recently. True he had held his own for the most part, but he hesitated several times when he should have taken a shot at his opponents head. No more! He would concentrate on his combat skills and attempt to eliminate the distractions around him. He would be more prepared for his next fight.
I've tweaked my deck, hopefully it will help me do more than just win games by a couple of ability - I want to get some heads!
Posted by Bob on Friday, 03.3.06 @ 10:48am
My harried flight from Hitso had taken my sword. And though the backwards toss that bounced soundly off his skull did wonders to discourage pursuit from a former teacher, it left me near weaponless. Resolved to retrieve it, I dug out the only other weapon I own, a
Pata taken from my very first Kill kept as a memento.
(sidenote: A Pata is an Indian weapon basically a sword gauntlet combo. Eric the Red in
Movie Willow fought with a refined version of one)
The battlefield where I had lost my blade was empty, but distant cracks and muffled explosions told the combat was far from over. As I searched in vain for my errant weapon
it became apparent the place was not as empty as I had first thought, for even with my
advance warning the hulking figure was upon me almost before I could free the pata and arm
myself. I will admit fear overtook me as I backpedaled away from the first whistling arc for
I recognized Anselmo's greatsword even before I recognized the man. My terror only increased as I realized I was trying to face someone with a weapon I had never used or even trained with, and memories of my last beating from the Don overwhelmed me. He was talking
as he swung, severing tree branches and plowing up mighty ruts of earth as I continued to fall back looking for a way to escape, though what he said escapes me. Then a strange thing started to happen my sword arm began moving on its own Feinting and thrusting as if some hidden memory was slowly awakening in it. Suddenly sensing a drop in his guard my body still of its on accord ducked a blow and struck with such fury that a lesser man would have lost both his legs, but Anselmo only smiled as it bit to the bone in his thigh. Not missing a
beat his next cleave allready was on me... But then I knew as I suppose I have always really known that since taking my first head this weapon was an old friend, a part of me... And instead of rolling away from him I rolled towards him coming up so close I could kiss him were I so inclined. I summoned all my strength.... There can only be one
His headless body continued 2 swings after, the second of which imbedded that monster sword so deeply in a tree that I would have no hope of pulling it back out but I had already found my Weapon.
Uhh flourish aside
Hitso kicked my ass on the battlefield
but as fleeing my last attack would have taken his head
but hitso ripped the headshot
Don threw a charm = dicard all attack
unblocked hidden lower power blow = but Don anned 2 damage off
I got my combo headshot off = and dons exertion let him down

Ok, the players thing should be up to date. I got info on last night from Bill, Jeff and Matt and was able to extrapolate Kelly's results from that.
Kelly, let me know if I'm wrong - it looks like you played 3 games, lost 2, and won 1 by taking Don Marco Anselmo's head.

I've updated things for last night's action for Jeff and Matt.
Kelly and Bill you need to send me your results.
Posted by Bob on Thursday, 03.2.06 @ 11:26am
Some have been asking about my past and before something unforunate happens I thought perhaps theres little harm in telling my story. As an English conscript I was "born" at the age of 16 in 1847 (apparently this makes me very young by immortal standerds)during the Sepoy Rebellion near Delhi. Lucky for me a not so devout Muslim
realized what I was and took me under his wing.
I was taught the finer points to fighting and drinking but most importantly about the game. (thank you Sunda but now we are even) After a too
brief apprenticeship Kastagir moved on though we
have met a few times since. And I was left to make my own way. Always on the move I have spent the last century and a half learning with those who would have me, fighting those who would not,
and fleeing those I was unable to beat. I still have much to learn but I also feel the time of the gathering is at hand and hope my training and determination will be enough.
** Conner leaned against the altar his left arm hanging useless at his side, winced at each ragged breath but all ready the pain of his perforated lung was subsiding. Somewhere in the darkness beyond the gravestones a voice cried "You wont have Newt to kick around anymore Highlander." Strangly Conner only smiled. **
Newton Pierce

Descretion is the better part of Valor
Once again Conner has eluded me, Having tested the water by fighting or observing the local Immortals I thought for sure I knew what fight they had to offer. But unfortunatly they all seem quite content on keeping there necks intact.
I must be more careful as my third fight with the
highlander seems to have left me drained, I think
somehow I overextended myself when I cut him off from the church he was making a break for.
Posted by Kelly on Wednesday, 03.1.06 @ 01:55am
I was walking through the park on the way home when he came out of the fog. I grinned as soon as I saw him, not Newton again...
I took my usual guard position and advanced on this upstart that I had bested earlier. Suddenly he performed a move I had only ever seen Iman Fazil pull off and nearly took my head. I was so startled I had to fall back into a nearby churchyard and try and catch my breath. This kid is good, I truly have competition for the prize.
I waited until I was sure the kid would have gotten bored and moved on before I left the churchyard. As soon as I stepped off holy ground he assaulted me again.
His attacks came fast and furious, but I was better prepared this time. I thought I had him, when he knocked me to the ground. I rolled around blocking blows until I could finally get to my feet. By this time he had gotten over confident and I was able to lure him into unbalancing himself was some attacks and get some good blows in on him. He was no fool, and instead continuing the fight he retreated into the night.
There is a new major competitor for the prize, and his name is Newton Pierce...

Hitso ability to take heads is troubling...
Posted by Bob on Tuesday, 02.28.06 @ 17:38pm
RIP, Kalas mater of the mysterious art of "Back Fighting". Once again Kalas employed his devil may care tactic of dropping prone and exhausting his opponents attacks by making himself a pin cushion. Unfortunately for Kalas the wily Hitso employed his own mysterious fighting technique "The Head Shot". Hitso's brand of fighting proved to be more deadly and thus a bloody end for world's most dangerous master of "Back Fighting".
On a more positive note. Don Marco Anselmo made a dazzling debut through his own brand of martial prowess called "Staying on Your Feet".
Posted by Bill on Tuesday, 02.28.06 @ 16:47pm
Ok, Hitso did pretty well.
First battle vs Kern (Matt). Battle started off slow, as usual. However, by the time we were half way through our decks Hitso had 13 ability and Kern was down to 11 (about anyway). It was all down hill from there for the rampaging Kern. Time was not in Kerns corner and he continued to take nicks and cuts from Hitso's blade. Finally, beaten and on his knees he begged Hitso to "end it". Being merciful, Hitso blade took Kern's head in a maneuver he taught the Kurgan hundreds of years before.
Second Battle vs Kalas (Bill). This did not go as well. While weakened from taking Kerns head, Kalas jumps Hitso with Claymore drawn. It has long been rumored Kalas preyed on immortals while they were weak, and this appears to confirm that rumor. Hitso did not have the strength to stop the pounding blows of Kalas claymore. Little by little he was beaten down, valiently attempting to fight back. Finally, a heavy blow landed killing Hitso. Luckily Hitso was knocked back into a river from the force of the blow and he awakened later a mile down stream.
Third Battle vs Conner (Bob). This was a fantastic duel! Hitso talked a lot of smack to the immortal many believe will eventually take the prize. The two fought long and hard, with Hitso getting the worse of it. It ended in a battlefield with both Conner and Hitso taking wounds from the mortals fighting around them. Hitso was eventually killed by a mortal on the battle field, but with his dying breath put everything he had into one last swing. The blow landed killing Conner, but Hitso was not around to see his death having already perished!

Kalas, had a rough night but he's as optomistic as ever about getting the prize. If it wasn't for bad luck he wouldn't have any luck at all. Matt, if you find that back dice I highly recommend putting it to the hammer. Let me know when you any of you want to get a game in.

OK, I've looked over the cards on that list and I changed my mind. One original starter, one gathering starter, and the booster divided between all of them. I'd like to get a weapon, a block/strike, focused block, and of course a personality would be nice.

I plan on going with 2 original starters. I haven't decided on the boosters yet, will probably spread them out. Can you give me some hints as to where I will find the following:
Weapons - A&T, right?
circular parries
flashing blades
focus, and the edge to let you play against unblockable and undodgeable

I've heard of Don Marco Anselmo also know as The Brokeback Immortal...
Posted by Bob on Friday, 02.24.06 @ 16:40pm
I will be taking the following OG starter, A&T starter, 5 Watcher boosters and 5 A&T boosters. A coupls things you guys might want to bring is a box of tissues and some cheese. Yeah, for all crying and whining you're all going to do.
Don Marco Anselmo, Generic Immortal

I'm kind of curious what people are thinking of getting for their original buy in. I know I want an Arms and Tactics starter, but beyond that I'm not sure. The original set has a lot of good cards and you are more likely to get a persona and cards you can use for them. I'm not that familar with what is in the other sets available...
Right now I'm thinking an A&T starter, a gathering starter, 4 original boosters, 2 watcher boosters, 2 a&t boosters, and 2 four horseman boosters.

Posted by Kelly on Tuesday, 09.19.06 @ 18:05pm

Hugh did nothing but lose but I feel good about how he lost. Connor is ready for a return.
Posted by Bill on Wednesday, 05.17.06 @ 16:20pm

Oh, and trade for some watcher heals. Kelly, did you get any Annie stuff in your packs. I got plenty to trade, including personas.

Posted by Bill on Wednesday, 04.19.06 @ 13:36pm
Not a good night for me last night, though I do think I have good deck now for Oscar - Hugh is just too slippery.
Posted by Bob on Wednesday, 04.19.06 @ 12:32pm
So, Kelly, did you get anything good?
Posted by Bill on Wednesday, 04.12.06 @ 16:42pm
The Macleods are the franchise. They'll be back. They've got more lives than there are bad Highlander sequels.
Posted by Bill on Thursday, 04.6.06 @ 11:08am
Well, I've managed to lose the heads of both of the Macleods...
I think I'm going to concentrate on tweaking my Generic (Oscar) deck.

Posted by Bill on Monday, 03.13.06 @ 19:20pm
Well I built my generic league deck last night and I am not happy. My generic is not going to be in the same league as you guys.

Jeff, good point. Will do.
Posted by Bill on Saturday, 03.11.06 @ 14:50pm
Posted by Jeff on Thursday, 03.9.06 @ 18:41pm
Do you guys have a problem with me playing and running the Jim-Con tournament?
Posted by Bill on Thursday, 03.9.06 @ 15:10pm
I was less then thrilled with what I got in my two packs. I hope to do better at the sealed deck tourney.
Posted by Bob on Thursday, 03.9.06 @ 09:50am
After going through my new cards. I was once again dismayed by the lack of star power. I was pleased with the number of useful cards. Does anyone happen to have an extra flury strike?
Posted by Bill on Wednesday, 03.8.06 @ 11:59am
Newton Pierce is a man to be feared - he has taken 4 heads including Connor MacLeod's.
Posted by Bob on Wednesday, 03.8.06 @ 09:59am
Competition was fierce. I expected a another head to be taken but 2 out of 5 isn't bad. I think I'm convinced that 60 cards is better than 120. Not exerting past your best cards is always good. Remember there will be a tournament March 18th, 6:00 at Jim-Con.
Posted by Bill on Wednesday, 03.8.06 @ 09:49am
Beware, I'm prepared to fall down and not get up at the slightest provocation. I'm also not above blowing myself up.

Time is ticking away. How are you lot going to spend your last hours?

Abraham Memphis

Posted by Bob on Thursday, 03.2.06 @ 12:00pm

Jeff, I'm not sure what is in what set, but check out

Posted by Bill on Friday, 02.24.06 @ 15:07pm
I'm kind of curious what people are thinking of getting for their original buy in. I know I want an Arms and Tactics starter, but beyond that I'm not sure. The original set has a lot of good cards and you are more likely to get a persona and cards you can use for them. I'm not that familar with what is in the other sets available...
Right now I'm thinking an A&T starter, a gathering starter, 4 original boosters, 2 watcher boosters, 2 a&t boosters, and 2 four horseman boosters.
